Nice to meet you! I'm the owner of the acclaimed florist Flour LA, Inc with studios in LA, NYC, and now Nashville. I started my company at the very end of 2009, when I was 26 years old, out of my apartment in El Segundo. I spent about $200, which I paid my brother Matt to create a simple website for me.
I bootstrapped my business entirely on my own (meaning I got funding from no one), and have gotten very creative, using smart ways to get free press. When I wanted to get my book The Flower Chef published, I was told I needed a better platform. So I began leveraging opportunities to create a buzz, which ultimately led me to get a publishing deal.
The secret to creating a successful business is low overhead, outsourcing tasks, and focusing on what you're naturally good at. I feel so inspired having the chance to help others with their businesses.
One of my greatest joys is empowering others, and I really believe that anyone can do anything. It really doesn't come down to talent, but knowing how to sell yourself. I know it can be lonely and frustrating those first few years starting out, and I want you to know that I am here for you. If we are working together then I truly believe in your potential, and we are on this journey together.
I have worked in every region of the country from San Francisco to New Mexico to New Jersey to Idaho to New Orleans and everywhere in between, doing lavish events and national speaking. I have worked out of a teepee in Joshua Tree and lots of AirBnb homes and hotel rooms. Flour LA's clientele are Fortune 500 corporations, PR firms, experiential marketing companies, and celebrities. My first book The Flower Chef was published in March 2016 by Hachette Book Group and named Best Books of 2016 by Amazon! Vogue named Flour LA and I as one of the best flower classes in the country.
I also know a lot about a lot of things! From explaining how SEO works and how Google will find you, to why you need to create press with links, to how to create the best opportunities.
I truly care about my students and help them think outside the box when it comes to business and design. I've helped countless individuals learn the business side of service-based businesses and implement low cost ways to bootstrap their fledgling business. Students come from around the world to take private classes with me from Kuwait to Mexico!
